Project Overview
This year SBS will celebrate 50 years of connecting the country through storytelling that informs, inspires, entertains, and authentically reflects contemporary Australia, so what better way to celebrate than to expand storytelling capability and production infrastructure.
SBS have now gained federal funding to expand broadcast and production facilities into Western Sydney and are now scoping a new production hub and talent incubation space where more original content can be produced for its audiences. The new hub will feature a large format television studio to host live and pre-recorded content with the capability of incorporating audiences along with live radio, podcasting studios, contemporary spaces and workspace to support the production output.
The Role
SBS are seeking to appoint a ‘Project Director’ to lead this project, for which Capstone Recruitment Group have been selected as the sole agency to facilitate this recruitment process. As the ‘Project Director’, you will deliver work towards developing a detailed business case which explores; suitable site location options, funding/financing options, commercial terms, connectivity to public transportation through to conceptual design.
This role will see you facilitating and presenting at town-hall meetings with various stakeholders, with the aim of seeking expressions of interest from the local market, to locate potential sites that could house the new production hub. Whilst also interfacing with procuring specialist property/infrastructure advisory services to review, evaluate and incorporate their analysis and recommendations into the plan. You will be supported by a steering committee and have access to the specialist resources including Property(facilities management), Technology (for technical input), Communications, HR, Finance and others.
It is envisaged that the initial engagement will be for a period of 12-months to deliver the plan for a suitable location, then depending on the model chosen (and agreed government funding) a further minimum 2-year period would be expected for the delivery phase.
Assignment Overview
- Lead a rare and stimulating project through the planning phase
- Initial 1-year contract, either directly employed on a fixed-term contract by SBS, or via Capstone as a contractor
- Working Full-Time hours (37.5hrs per week)
- Total remuneration package of approximately $300,000 (including super)
About You
To be considered, you will bring with you:
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise and present to a broad range of stakeholders at various levels (including government representatives, media professionals and property/infrastructure advisors).
- Demonstrated experience leading high value and complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience across property development or infrastructure planning, including developing a detailed business case.
- Familiarity with government processes, specifically the Public Works committee is highly beneficial.
- Exposure to planning, designing or constructing a media/creative arts space would be advantageous, but not mandatory.
- Exposure to obtaining or providing tenant advisory services is also beneficial.
