“Central Precinct will be a vibrant and exciting place that unites a world-class transport interchange with innovative businesses and public spaces. It will connect the city at its boundaries, celebrate its heritage and become a centre for the jobs of the future and economic growth”.

The renewal comprises of 10 sub-precincts, guided by the area’s variety, community and character.

- Belmore Park
- Central Station
- Western Forecourt
- Western Gateway
- Sydney Rail Yards
- Regent Street Sidings
- Cleveland Street

The development, totalling 24 hectares of Government-owned land, will provide a renewed central station, improved transport, better pedestrian connectivity and new and enhanced public space. Woods Bagot has been named as part of a design consortium that has been appointed.
Along with entertainment, retail and dining options there will be new commercial space within the Innovation and Technology Precinct, which will aim to create 250,000 square metres of floor space for technology companies, including affordable workspace for start-ups. Home-grown IT giant Atlassian is set to become an anchor tenant at Sydney’s new Innovation and Technology hub.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, “The Sydney Innovation and Technology Precinct will become the digital destination for all of Australia with thousands of people working and learning, and I am delighted Atlassian will be part of this future,” Ms Berejiklian said.
The strategic vision is inviting feedback on the strategy now and will produce the SSP Study in the new year.
